Swedish photographer in
New York
When you have decided to marry in New York, of course you also want to have those fantastic pictures.
Maria Melin cooperates with the Swedish Church in New York and have taken several pictures of wedding couples.
First a Journalist and now a Photographer.
Maria didn´t start out as a Photographer but as a Journalist at a small newspaper in Norrland, Sweden.
On her journalist assignments she often had no access to a Photographer so she started to take pictures by herself.
It was then she discovered that she enjoyed it and also that taking photos was her natural talent.
From Sweden to the US
During her growth Maria went to the US as an exchange student, she went to Minnesota and during that time she also travelled around in the country. Her interest for the US aroused. The journey back to the US "for good" was in 1990. In her one year education within
"PR and International Communication" in Stockholm - you studied half of the year in the US and the course also included practical training at a company in the US.
This was perfect for Maria, she wanted to get away from Sweden and was ready for new aventures in the US!
And off she went!
Photographer at ABC

Her
practical vocational training place
became "ABC Television Photo and PR department" in New York. It was there she developed her skill for photographing and she also got the opportunity to take pictures of famous people and actors.
She travelled around the US with ABC´s news department and she got to meet among others five presidents: Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George Bush, Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr. Her work have also been published in many american newspapers like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Newsweek och Los Angeles Times.
After given birth to her first child she decided to cut down on her travelling and started to freelance for ABC and also for many Swedish newspapers as for example: Aftonbladet, Expressen, Amelia and Göteborg Posten.

The most famous places for the photographing are:
Central Park green and nice with the striking New York skyline in the background, along Fifth Avenue with the city pulse, Times Square in the middle of the center and on the other side of Brooklyn Bridge with the Manhattan skyline in the background and South Street Seaport and also down in the subway.
All suggestions are welcome! It is just fun and exciting!

If it should be "bad weather", the photographing will be in the studio or inside another nice building in New York, as for example, Grand Central Station. |

Marias tip about New York: - I think you shall walk around as much as possible in New York (of course if you are able to) because you will miss a lot otherwise. Split Manhattan in four sections and walk around: Lower East side, Upper East side, Lower West side and Upper West side.
